Bristlecone "Dragon"

Fallen bristlecone tree roots. White Mountains, California
The Ancient Bristlecone Pine are the oldest living things on earth. They grow at very high elevations in only a few places in the world. Because they live so long in very harsh conditions they become contorted and gnarled, creating some of the most picturesque subjects for the photographer. Even in death they retain their character. This specimen looked to me like a dragon with sharp jagged teeth, a big top knot and arms raised, in a scary pose. Look for the eyes just above the “arms”.
