NEW CLUB POLICY REGARDING GUEST VISITS
Effective immediately, guest visits will be limited to two per person
before being asked to join the Club. Therefore, if you have
attended two or three meetings in the past, you will be required to join
the Club on your next visit. Yearly membership dues are $20 for
individuals and $30 for family
The Durango Photography Club's Website and Forum Communication Policy
Our website is intended for communication of items directly related to our
purpose which is bringing people together
from the four-corners area with a common interest in photography. Our
mission, the purpose of our website and the Club forum
is to encourage the interchange of ideas and techniques used in
photography and to provide education for those who want to improve the
quality of their work. Our Mission Statement
specifically states that the Club
does not allow for strictly commercial messages that do not meet the above
criteria. Only members can offer items to the webmaster
for posting on the website. They may also address them directly
to the Club's forum.
Suitable items may include notice of items for sale, or notice of
services offered (such services can be either by members or third parties)
all of which must be related directly to photography. Service listings
should be brief and timely. Members may submit links to other
websites for posting on the Club's website as
long as the links are directly related to photographic activities.
The webmaster will decide if a request for posting an item on the website
is appropriate. That decision may be appealed to the Club's President.
Forum Info
HOW DO I JOIN THE FORUM?
The first step is to join the forum by sending an e-mail to DurangoPhotographyClub-subscribe@yahoogroups.com with
your name. Since the forum is not available to outsiders, I will
have to approve membership in the forum. Initially it will be
available to both members and those prospective members on our e-mail
list. Those who are not members will be removed from the forum after
two months. After you are approved you will get an e-mail
notifying you of that fact.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE FORUM
One of the purposes of the forum is to give us an opportunity to
"pick the brains" of other members. Any questions
concerning photography may be asked. Wonder is someone else has the
camera you're thinking of purchasing? Would you like to know if
anyone has a good source for ink cartridges, paper or other supplies? Have
a problem with your software or need advice on good software to consider?
Another use would to pass along tips, tricks or gadgets that you think
would be useful to the others.
Finally, it can be used to set up impromptu photo shoots. If you're going
out for a photo shoot and would like company you could send an e-mail to
the forum with the details. Anyone interested in joining you could
contact you direct to finalize arrangements. The idea is
that this could be done on as little notice as a day or can be
planned further ahead for a trip where an overnight or more would be
needed. This is for strictly non-commercial activities.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
When you send an e-mail to the forum at DurangoPhotographyClub@yahoogroups.com it
will be transmitted to every forum member. Hopefully one of the
members will have the answer or could at least direct you in the right
direction. When they answer your request it will again be sent to
every forum member. That way we all learn from the question you
asked. Since we are not that large a group you wont receive many
e-mails a week. If you prefer, when you subscribe to the forum you
have three options - Receive all e-mails, only receive a digest once a day
listing the subjects of the e-mails, receive nothing and go on-line to the
web to see what has been going on.
